Choosing the Right Hairstyle for Men

Posted on by

images (4)If your hairstyle isn’t chosen carefully and does not suit you, then you’re probably going to end up looking like a mix between a frustrated clown and a harassed schoolteacher – a hairstyle none of us want to live with! Yes, hairstyles have evolved dramatically over the past couple of years, and though certain trends suggest a revival in the 80’s and 90’s styles, it is a known fact that hairstyles change with the season!

►Trendy Haircuts for Men
You can style your hair extremely short or try to keep them in pointed pattern as spikes. The hair can be cut short from all sides, yet it can be kept long on the top. Another thing can be done keeping uniform short hair all over. This hairstyle is mostly seen in military people.

You can also try layered hairstyles if you wish to keep your hair a bit longer or have wavy hair. You can get some layers in your hair and keep the hair ends wispy. People with wavy hair can get a square-cut or get some layers and set the hair with a mousse or serum so that the hair stays like spikes in place. Another product which works great for wavy or curly hair is leave-in-conditioner.

Those who have extremely wavy or curly hair can also go for shaggy hairstyles. These styles look messy and sexy. Plus, they are low on maintenance. People who are bored with their straight hair can also consider getting their hair styled wavy either permanently or temporarily. African-Americans can get an Afro cut and sport it in a natural style.

A trendier version of the traditional Mohawk style, the faux hawk is generally associated with the likes of punk stars and football players. With its trademark, central spike and shaved or buzzed sides, the faux hawk is for those who choose to be different.

Sleek razor cut styles with sweeping bangs are popular among men. However, go for these hairstyles if you have fine hair, as people with wavy or thick hair can find it difficult to maintain these styles.

Those who have really long hair can consider hairstyles like dreadlocks, braided styles or mullet hairstyles. Though, long hairstyles look very unique, they need a lot of maintenance. However, hairstyles like cornrows can make long hair really manageable. If you have straight fine hair consider mullet. But, if you are a rasta man then consider going for dreadlocks.
Tips on Choosing the Right Men’s Hairstyles
•When choosing the right kind of hairstyle for yourself, keep in mind that it needs to match your face and overall skin tone. Short haircuts on the other hand, suit people with diamond, oblong, rectangular, round or oval-shaped faces. However, people with heart-shaped faces should refrain from getting their hair cut short. Apart from this, your hairstyle should match your personality and character.
•If you are someone who is energetic and always on-the-go, then short hair should suit you. But, if you are looking for something that is classy, then the longer styles are more of your thing. Always be as creative as possible when choosing the right hairstyle for yourself. When going through various pictures of different hairstyles, don’t limit yourself to looking strictly at the haircut – broaden your perspective and look for more ideas. Choose a hairstyle which goes with your hair type.
•If you are bored with your hair, then consider adding some skinny highlights or lowlights to them. However, go with a shade that will look natural with your hair color and blend nicely. A professional stylist will help you to choose the right hair color for highlighting or lowlighting better.

Men’s Wedding Fashion

Posted on by

download (8)If you thought dressing up for weddings is only meant for ladies, you are wrong! Today’s men have become very metrosexual about everything in their life, and weddings have become a great occasion for them to suit-up. So, let us take a look at wedding attire ideas for guests as well as the groom, based on wedding themes.

Casual Attire

A casual wedding theme is sure to confuse men in deciding what to wear―a casual look or a wedding look! If the wedding is based on a casual theme, you have a number of options to wear.

Casual men’s wedding attire can be characterized as a more relaxed, more laid-back kind of semi-formal dressing. A casual wedding obviously mans less formalities. It cannot get more obvious that a black tie is a big NO-NO. But that does not mean that wearing a t-shirt is appropriate! If you have to attend a casual wedding as a guest, consider wearing a light-colored short-sleeved or long-sleeved shirt with a button down pattern. If you are young enough to wear bright colors and can carry them well, you can consider wearing a bright-colored polo shirt.

You will not have a choice of wearing jeans, unless the couple say so. Casual weddings can either be on a beach, in a park, or in an indoor/outdoor event center. Try a couple of earthy-colored khakis or light-colored cotton pants for a simpler, lighter, and relaxed look. If you are comfortable enough, you could consider wearing a pair of navy dress shorts and team it up with a light-colored shirt and a casual tie with a loose fitting knot to have a cool and casual look.

Are you wearing the right kind of shoes? This is a million dollar question for a casual wedding. Often, men team up casual outfits with formal shoes. Guys, you don’t wanna look like you are dressed up for just another day in office, do you? Ditch those black leather shoes for a casual wedding. No, you cannot wear canvas or tennis shoes either. If the wedding is an indoor event, a pair of casual suede shoes is a great idea.

Ditch the dress ties and bow ties and even your favorite cummerbunds! They are too formal. Instead, wear your favorite watch from a luxury brand or a bracelet. A casual, printed silk scarf around your neck that complements your shirt color perfectly will do wonders if you are trying to score some female attention!

If you are the groom, let me first congratulate you! A groom should look less casual than the guests, which means you can team up a casual long-sleeve shirt with a tie and a casual jacket. Light pinks, light greens, and light blues will work great. Nonetheless, colors like mauve, olive and beige―if you belong to the group of men who can distinguish these shades from their original colors―are good options. Consider wearing light-colored formal pants and team them up with casual leather shoes. You can wear a designer scarf around your neck or a tie to distinguish you apart from the groomsmen. Do not forget to follow a common theme with your bride. Your outfit should complement with the bride’s wedding attire.

Beach Wedding

Beach weddings are one of the most romantic and memorable wedding ceremonies, and so there are chances of bridesmaids watching someone for themselves! So choose wisely and dress up well.

Linen and cotton short-sleeved shirts are the best men’s attire for a beach wedding. Wear cool colors like light blues, white, green, and beige. A full-sleeved dark-colored shirt with cuffs is too hot for a sun-kissed beach wedding. So make sure you opt for light-colored, cool fabrics like linen, cotton, and seersucker. Linen shirts from ‘Tommy Bahama’ will be sexy options to choose from. Female attention guaranteed!

Choosing the right kind of pants for a beach wedding is a really tough job, I agree. And yes, you can wear shorts for a beach wedding provided they are presentable enough. That does not mean you can wear any printed pair of shorts! You can also consider wearing navy dress shorts teamed up with a linen shirt. Striking a right balance is what I mean to say here. Khakis too, make a great style statement as a beach wedding attire. Wear comfortable clothes – it will show off on your body and girls love men who are comfortable in their own skin!

Your leather shoes are obviously not meant to be worn on a beach. So what if it’s a wedding? Ditch them right away and wear your flip-flops or sandals. Wearing beach slippers could be inappropriate. Make sure you clean your feet if you have thought of wearing sandals or flip flops.

The only accessories I would highly recommend are sunblock lotions to avoid any sunburn and a thin leather belt for your shorts or khakis. Avoid anything around your neck.

If you are the groom, let me tell you, you are the luckiest groom to have your wedding on a beach, provided you follow the right kind of clothing style. Whatever you wear, make sure it is beach-friendly. You get to wear shorts, flip-flops, comfortable linen shirts and linen suits! I would strongly insist on wearing a very light-colored (white or tan) 100% linen suit from a good brand. A big ‘NO’ to any kind of tie or anything around your neck. Make sure you follow the bride’s attire. Even your beach wedding attire should complement each other. Leave collar buttons open and flaunt the nape of your neck. After all, you don’t want to sweat like in a workout on your D-Day, do you? Use sunscreens and please avoid any chances of a possible sunburn. A pedicure is must for those who opt for flip flops on their feet. White or tan are the perfect colors to look stunningly sexy on your beach wedding. All I want to say is, keep your entire dressing cool and comfortable and you will know what it means when I say you are the luckiest guy to have a wedding on a beach!

Were you looking for a formal wedding? Do not get disappointed. Tuxedos have been and will always be the only answer to what men should wear on a formal wedding. Formal leather shoes, formal dress, ties and bows remain the same too. Although, you can try different formal outfits if the formal wedding party is a themed one.

Have your wedding planned with the help of a wedding planner, and make sure you hire a personal stylist exclusively for your wedding. For those of you who are invited to attend a wedding, I hope this article was useful enough to decide wisely what to wear. So with these ideas, I am just left to say, stay stylish and live it lavish!

Best Men’s Fashion Trends

Posted on by

Men’s fashion trends are all about being casual and comfortable. The American debonair is back and this time with a classy yet dissonant combination of the 21st century high-fashion. This year you get to define your own fashion apparel, in a way that you extract the most out of experimentation. The spring fashion is all about the urban gentleman-a man who wears sublimity in a characteristically uncanny way so that he defines what he wears and not the other way round. Here are examples, of some of the fashion trends brought in by some of the best designers of men’s wear.

Disclaimer: These images are a mere representation of 2012 men’s fashion trends and are not associated with any fashion brand.

Pringle of Scotland
Their collection managed to be a big-big hit, yet again. The collection, still have the quintessential appeal, which began 197 years ago, with the inception of the brand in 1815! They are rightly credited for bringing the Argyle and twinset into the fashion industry, for this year saw plenty more of these designs and patterns. A lot of brown, brick, and pastel shades were used, which thankfully sooth the soul and the senses.

Missoni’s trends have always been a personal favorite of mine. Their collection is all about geometrical prints, which add so much more zing to the pants. Their slim fit trousers evolve from a combination of colors ranging from pallets of orange, maroon, and blue. Mufflers and hats add excellent contrast to the flashy lowers. This year they have stressed a lot on coats and is, therefore, the single most essential part of their collection.

Long trench coats that remind us of 1950s’ fashion, as well as exceptionally well-tailored coats with bold golden buttons stole the show. Graphite gray and deep maroon coats looked the classiest. Missoni’s fashion trends for 2012 also flashed some peppy shades such as olive-green and mustard brown for the coats. As for the pants, metallic shades of black, gray, and blue looked svelte when combined with pointed leather shoes and boots.

Trussardi’s fashion takes you back to the time when retro fashion was a way of life. Their collection can be worn by any man who dares to try something different. The predominant colors are white, black, gray, brown, and red. Skinny pants are a must have, they can be worn with almost anything. Casual well fitted, striped white, and black round necked-long sleeved pullovers, plain black shirts and a casual gray T-shirt, with rolled up sleeves were the styles that stood out the most. Their simplicity added with some pure personality, got the good word going for them. The leather jacket that we all miss so much is back with a bang, now you can flaunt it, just like the real daredevils do.

Have no qualms about it. Wear well fitted leather jackets with stripped button-up shirts or a plain T-shirt and you’re all set to roll. Accessorize with the classy dark Ray-bans and do not forget the evergreen Italian leather shoes. Also remember, the belts need to stand out, so if you’re wearing black all over, try white belts or other colors. Trussardi’s latest collection, introduced the hand bag in a big way this year. Wearing bags is a matter of choice, and is therefore left on your discretion. Some of the styles that really looked good were the blue shirts with crunched up sleeves worn over dark gray and black stripped T-shirts and brown pants along with the soft yellow T-shirts worn with a wrapped muffler or coat.

Formal Fashion
This year, men can afford to take chances with their formal ensemble. Make an effort to add more color to your office apparel. Pick up colors that you like, but wouldn’t have thought you could wear for formal occasions. Pick up jackets in velvety indigo, blue, maroon, and brick-red. If you’re comfortable with lighter shades, you may also try giving pink and lime yellow a chance. If this seems a bit too overboard for you, then you may go in for scarves and summery-mufflers. You will definitely need to revamp your entire collection of ties. Think bold! Colors such as red, purple, bottle green, and mustard are a few colors which you must try. These colors will look great with black-white, which are always a safe combination. You should also switch to different colored trousers wherein you can add whitewashed shades to your wardrobe’s pallets. These will include gray, white, green, and beige. Do not hesitate to wear check patterned shirts to office or for casual luncheons. From the state of things, it’s about time men start looking different from one another. So chuck the same old boring shades of light blue, brown, and white shirts and try something new.

Summer Fashion
For this year and the coming summer, the fashion mantra is to be comfortable. Plain and simple. Who wouldn’t want to breathe easy and stave off from the stifling heat of the season? Go in for thin and airy fabrics for both shirts as well as trousers. Khaki and cotton-Lycra pants are a far wiser choice as compared to denim jeans. Corduroy pants are a complete NO for summer time. Do add hats to your fashion sensibilities this summer as these will keep you shaded from the heat and complement your carefree attire.

For this summer, ‘Mandals’ or man-sandals are a must have! For casual outdoor strolls, dates or shopping sprees, these sandals will ensure that your feet stay cool, comfortable, and free. There are a variety of exceptionally well designed leather sandals in stores today, so go ahead and have your pick. For late evenings, you may wear summer jackets or simply wear a larger shirt on a t-shirt.

Winter Fashion
This winter, the fashion mantra is layers-upon-layers. Get your hands on as many jackets, cardigans, sweaters, mufflers, and woolen hats as you can. Do not forget the long coats and gloves. The objective is to keep yourself warm while you’re looking good. Since winter is often associated with gloomy weather and lack of sunshine, it would do you good to add some vibrant colors to your apparel. This will ensure that you give out happy vibes to others as well. Go in for colors that please you while collaborating them with brown, black, and gray. In order to add more color, you may go in for multicolored mufflers, caps, gloves, and brighter winter boots. Always buy the most well-fitting and impeccably tailored coats and blazers, as these can make all the right difference. A simple trench coat can make any man look confident and sure of himself. These broadens out the shoulders and makes you man up.

Fashion for Older Men
Finely tailored shirts, blazers, and trousers are what older men should wear for 2012. This season, try wearing muted shades and black on black, as this combination will make you look slimmer as well as taller. Check shirts are a definite YES for casual and outdoor activities. Do not hesitate to fold up the sleeves a bit if you feel like relaxing. Full sleeved t-shirts, V-necked shirts, and sweaters are also a must have. Opt for comfort oriented fabric, when it comes to trousers. Come this winter, buy yourself a few well-chosen cardigans, gloves, a trench coat, and sweaters. Sophisticated fashion is the essence of the season for all the older men out there.

Create Your Own Style

All right, so here is the catch. CYOS basically means to ‘Create Your Own Style’! If you do not have the moolah or the inclination to go in for exorbitant brands, you’ve got to become innovative and come up with your own thing. As simple as that. All you need to do is to keep an eye out for the changing trends and imbibe them into your own style, without making it look too dramatic. Go in for simple T-shirts and shirts which you’d find in normal stores and wear it in a way that it appeals to you.

For instance:

Blazers – Layering is a great way of adding more personality to your attire. Wear t-shirts with blazers and trench coats, which have prominent buttons.

Waist Coats – Wear shirts with rolled up sleeves, over t-shirts or with waist-coats.

Scarves – Summer scarves and mufflers to wear along with formal and semi formal trousers and jeans.

Shoes – Get rid of the clichéd black shoes and go in for the multitude of colors that the new generation has to offer you..such as moss-green, blue, mustard, deep purple and the really nice gray.

Suspenders – A definite YES, shall go for ‘Suspenders’ as these are a must have. These go well with every type of shirt, except those which are sleeveless.

Satchels and Bags – A satchel is both user-friendly as well as rebellious. Personally, I find it very attractive on a man, especially if the bag is well designed and worn with confidence.

Hats – Hats and caps too look amazing, when worn with style. Caps while more common do not complete with Fedoras. It is highly unlikely for a woman to resist a man who can carry off this style with ease.

Watches – The bigger the better. Choose your own style as per your budget and wear one, only if you like them. Some men, hate wearing watches as it gets too constricting and makes them feel tied down.

Go ahead and experiment with these trends while adapting it with your own style quotient. Also do not forget to get the right kind of hairstyle, which are popular in this spring fashion. You may add your own dynamic appeal with certain personal preferences added or subtracted from the apparel and the accessories.

Tips for Men the Rockabilly Style

Posted on by

images (3)Rockabilly is one of the earliest rock and roll music styles. It is basically a mix of ‘rock and roll’ and ‘hillbilly’ (hillbilly refers to Country music), thus the name. Rockabilly music was also influenced by ‘Western Swing’, ‘Blues Music’, ‘Boogie Woogie’, and ‘Jump Blues’. It gained popularity from the early ’50s to early ’60s.

You must be wondering how rockabilly is related to fashion! It had a strong influence over fashion in its forming years, and the ‘rockabilly style’ was quickly absorbed by American youth. It was more popular because one didn’t have to spend much or work a lot to get ready, and was a very simple and an ‘any-person look’. Here’s how to dress rockabilly.

-Old Jeans

✔ First of all you’ll need a pair of denims, more of a vintage style. Go for a slim fit one.

✔ Step 2! Grab a pack of T-shirts, plain and simple, without any stripes or graphics. Especially look for a thin, white one with a round neck; it would be just perfect.

✔ If you prefer shirts to T-shirts, you could look for some Western vintage style shirts with a bit of embroidery.

✔ Remember to tuck the T-shirt in the denim jeans, and make sure that the denim is a bit more in length, as you’ll have to cuff up the bottom. Also, let the T-shirt be short-sleeved, with the sleeves rolled up for the perfect ‘Grease’ look. If you smoke, roll up a pack of cigarettes up your sleeve.

✔ You could also wear a slim-fit, shiny, sharkskin suit for occasions that are more formal. Ensure that the suit has two or more buttons, and a longer waistline.

-Have a Suitable Haircut
✔ Getting the hairstyle right is very important, especially if it’s the very popular ‘pompadour’ style of the ’50s. Keep the sides and the back short, while the top should be long at the front, and gradually descend as it moves backwards.

✔ Your hair should have a wet greasy look. Apply some pomade or hair cream at the back and sides of your hair, gently and evenly. Comb the sides in the backward direction. Then comb the back hair straight down. Once this is done, the sides and the rear part is all set and wet.

✔ Now squeeze some more pomade on your hand and apply it to the top part. Try and distribute it evenly through the hair. Use your hands to brush the hair at the front, while giving it a raise. You need to get more height and volume in the front. When viewed from the side, your hair should look like a ramp; raised in the front, and descending backwards. Once this is done, make it look neater by combing any hair which is out of place.

✔ Finally, grab a good hair spray and spray your hair in order to maintain the pompadour look.

-Work Boots
✔ For the shoes there are some great options. The best one is a pair of creepers. Likewise, motorcycle boots or industrial work boots suit up well with this look. To make it look more classic, go in for black oxfords or wingtips.

✔ You could hang in a pair of black suspenders to add detail to the look.

✔ If you’re planning to wear that plain white T-shirt, try on a jacket. Some options for jackets could include a motorcycle leather jacket, a wool tweed jacket, a rugged jacket with your name patched on it, and the like.

✔ To add some finishing touches, you could hang a chain in your denim pockets, or wear a cowboy style belt with a bull on the buckle.

✔ When choosing accessories for a more formal look, think of cufflinks (a pair of hot rods, or playing cards), and a skinny tie with a complementing tie clip or tie bar. All these will go great with the look.

The Rockabilly Look
The rockabilly style can very easily be incorporated, and is great for occasions like house-parties, hangouts, dates, and the like. The best part is that, it is a very inexpensive way to dress up, and the clothing as well as accessories are easily available.
